As a child, our family was blessed to live on a street where we had friends that we often played with during the summers as well as after school.
Back then, we spent much time outside, up and down the street as well as in our own front yard. Despite the fact that we would be anxiously engaged in having lots of fun playing, we always knew when it was time to come home. Sometimes the sound would be faint based on our location but when we heard that distinct whistle, we came running. It was dad calling us home with his individual call to us, his children. Even the neighbors knew what that whistle signaled. We all knew and recognized the sound. Wherever we were, we dropped everything and came running home, no questions asked. We never minded. We knew what that sound meant. It was a call from a father to his children to gather back together.
I tell this story because as I was reading in D&C section 29, when I got to verse 26 I read the following. "But, behold, verily I say unto you, before the earth shall pass away, Michael, mine archangel, shall sound his trump, and then shall all the dead awake, for their graves shall be opened, and they shall come forth--yea, even all."
Just as we recognized and knew the purpose for our father’s whistle and would come running, so shall we all hear and recognize the sounding of the trump from our first father Adam and we all will come.

Donna, thanks for the memories. I think Dad may have to practice on his whistle. I think it is broken or maybe worn out. (good thoughts)
