Day 4 in California

The day is just beginning but I wanted to make a quick entry. This hotel provides breakfast and dinner everyday. It isn't like eating out but rather going to your mother's kitchen. It is a nice having someone else prepare the meals. We just show up and eat. Breakfast has been eggs, sausage and the fixins if you want a breakfast burrito. They have fruit, egos, toast, muffins, make your own waffle and a few other delicious sides. Kelly says sometimes they have biscuits and gravy...I don't want to miss that!

For dinner we have had hamburgers, hotdogs, salad, mexican fixins and misc fruit and sides. Nice!

The chapel in Burbank that we would attend is located in an old country club. Kelly has attended there, but we just drove by and took a look at it.

I looked out of our hotel window this morning and this is what I saw. Notice one in the chair in shorts and the other 3 in the pool.

We took a little drive up on the "mountain" area and I was able to take a couple of pictures. The first three are of one house. I was trying to capture the tram. It appears that you park, walk up a couple of steps and then ride the tram up to the house. I wish I could have gotten some good pictures, but it was dark and the street was VERY narrow and it looks like people just managed to build their home right inside of the mountain. As usual, the pictures don't begin to show the what it is really like. I can't say I have ever seen anything like it. Really, Am I really in California and not in another country? I have lived a very secure, comfortable sheltered life. I liked that. Wish I didn't have to go outside of my world.

Day 3 in California

This first building is Capgemini the company Kelly works for, but his client is Warner Brothers so he is working directly for them right now.

These other pictures are just some things we saw while driving around looking for apartments. The picture right before the "Chuck" picture is the area where huge buildings like airplane hangers are located. Inside these buildings is where sets are set up for filming shows. Cool huh?

I thought "NOHO" was a city...well it is but it is North Hollywood. Silly me...

After driving around for hours, we finally found an apartment that was okay, but it is in the middle of downtown Burbank. We are going to look at places further away on Friday and Saturday. Santa Clarita comes highly recommended.

At the end of the day we received a knock at our hotel room and received a gift from one of the ladies that works here at the hotel and knows Kelly very well. She has been very kind and helpful to both of us. The note says: Dear Mr. & Mrs Kelly McMurry, Thank you very much for your kindness and generosity. Happy New Year and may you have a healthy year ahead. Sincerely, Margaret.

Now wasn't that sweet???

(I don't have pictures of the screaming and yelling that has been going on in the room across the hall. That family was having a hard time and one of the teenagers yelled, "I hate you" to the parent. The one teenager felt treated wrongly by her parents and that the other one should have gotten in trouble for something. It was VERY loud..as you can imagine.)

Maybe we should offer that gift basket to them. It might calm them down!

Day 2 in California

I took a walk today around Burbank. Here is some of what is around here. Tomorrow I will take the car out driving looking for apartments. Today I spent my time doing my homework looking online.

The Hollywood sign I didn't take but saw it out of the window of the airplane, so I included it. I couldn't get to the window across the plane to take the picture but the couple sitting by me pointed it out when it came into view.

People are almost as numerous as the cars. Wish you were here!!!

Day 1 in California

It has been a long day but I finally made it to California!!! Wow, there are some tall trees here!!! I sat by a great young couple that moved to California 3 years ago and said they will never return to Texas except to visit family. They were 25 & 26 years old, had just started dating and so sweet. They have really good jobs and live on the coast, but it was like sitting next to my children in many regards. They even gave me their contact information and want us to go out to eat with them. Very sweet.

Anyway, the hotel is just perfect and they feed us breakfast and dinner. Shoot, I could just stay here...the room is not bad at all and the people working here are real nice. The guest...not so friendly...but that is okay.

So here are pics of the hotel room we are staying in.
